| Beschreibung (dt.): | Übergeordnetes Ziel des Projektes ist es, die Basis für eine Bündelung der Kompetenz für Tiergesundheit und Tierschutz beim Schaf zu legen und Haltungs- sowie Zuchtempfehlungen für schafhaltende Betriebe zur Verbesserung der Tiergesundheit unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Selektion auf Kurzschwänzigkeit zu entwickeln. Gesamtziel des Projektes ist eine nachhaltige Steigerung des Tierwohls in der Schafhaltung in einem Kompetenznetzwerk unter Berücksichtigung der Datenerhebung zur Tiergesundheit (KGGA Gießen), der darauf basierenden zu entwickelnden Zuchtwertschätzung (Tierzucht = TZ Gießen), der Organisation partizipierender Netzwerkbetriebe bzgl. Bildung und Digitalisierung (LLH) und des Wissenstransfers (FIBL). Der Fokus ist hierbei auf Aspekte des Managements, der Tiergesundheit und des Tierwohlbefindens im Kontext der Zucht auf Kurzschwänzigkeit beim Schaf gerichtet. |
| Beschreibung (engl.): | Overall aim of the project is to establish expertise for sheep health, sheep welfare and sheep protection via optimisation of management, breeding and husbandry strategies. In this regard, special focus is on selection on short tails, i.e., developing sustainable strategies considering short tail selection in the context of overall animal health. The overall aim of this project for sheep health improvements will be realized in the framework of the established expertise network through detailed health data recording (KGGA Gießen), the development and implementation of genetic evaluation on the basis of the recorded health data (Animal Breeding = TZ Gießen), the organisation of networking in participating herds with special focus on education and digitalisation (LLH) and knowledge transfer (FIBL). The Landesbetrieb Landwirtschaft Hessen (LLH) is in charge of the overall project and is involved in three of the five work packages. According to the project description, the LLH is working on the following work packages: The organisation and coordination of the overall project and external communication is described in WP 1. In the network work in WP 4, the knowledge gained in the MuD network is to be transferred to up to 20 new farms in order to build up a nationwide network for the exchange of sheep-holding farms. Group meetings serve to transfer knowledge from the existing MuD farms to the new network farms. In order to be able to comprehensively cope with future changes in the management of herds, a suitable tool is being developed for data collection and management. Work package 5 deals with the processing and transfer of the experience and knowledge gained in the project. Since the first practical experiences from the existing MuD network are already available, the transfer of knowledge can already start at the beginning of the project. In addition to events and publications, the focus will be on the presentation of results and training measures for sheep farms in the form of online tools. |
