| Beschreibung (engl.): | The overall objective of the CarbonTillage project is the development of a plough for fractional deep tillage (FDT) to the Technical Readiness Level 8 (TRL 8). By an ameliorative usage of the new FDT plough, an additional C sequestration in soils is initiated through mixing mineral subsoil into the tillage horizon, thus achieving a CO2 sink effect. A positive side effect of FDT is the increase in crop yields, especially when soil compaction is present. The breaking up of compaction zones in the subsoil, the shaft-like deposition of topsoil into subsoil and the medium-term increase in humus stocks have a positive effect on the growing conditions of the crop plants. By improving access to water and nutrients in subsoils, the FDT plough should thus also contribute to strengthening the climate resilience of arable farming systems. |
