| Beschreibung (dt.): | Spezialisierung, Intensivierung und die Trennung von Ackerbau und Viehhaltung tragen zum Kilmawandel, zum Verlust von Biodiversität und zu einer Reihe weiterer Probleme in der Landwirtschaft bei. Das übergeordnete Ziel des Projekts SENSE ist daher, die Entwicklung und Validierung von Konzepten für eine integrierte agrarische Nutzung, die auf zirkulären Systemen beruht und die dazu beiträgt, das Netto-Null-Emissionsziel der Europäischen Union zu erreichen. SENSE zielt darauf ab, die Nutzung unterschiedlicher Agroforstsysteme in Europa zu stärken, indem umfassendes Wissen zu den Umweltwirkungen dieser Systeme (Treibhausgasemissionen, Nährstofflüsse etc.) generiert wird. Dabei steht eine enge Zusammenarbeit mit den Partnern in Argentinien, Brasilien und Uruguay im Zentrum, da dort bereits seit mehr als zwanzig Jahren intensiv Forschung zu solchen Systemen betrieben wird und diese auch in der Praxis deutlich weiter verbreitet sind als in Europa. |
| Beschreibung (engl.): | The aim of the German project contribution to SENSE is a) an evaluation of the sustainability assessment tools SMART and TAPE with regard to ability to capture circularity; b) a comprehensive, system-oriented sustainability assessment of the status quo of both the benchmark case studies and the participatory case studies with the multidimensional sustainability assessment tools SMART and TAPE; c) the application the GHG emission reduction measures recommended by the partners at farm level in cooperation with the farmers including feedback loops that are then analysed by SMART and TAPE d) identification of promoting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of management strategies to reduce GHG emission and to increase circularity at farm level. A particular focus is put on trade-offs and on a participatory assessment approach. The work overall aim of the project is to develop of indicators to capture circularity, to minimise greenhouse gas emissions and to optimise carbon and nutrient fluxes to strengthen the circularity of farm systems. Based on the partners' measurements and modelling, appropriate measures are recommended, which are implemented in the benchmark case studies by the farmers. By using the multidimensional tools TAPE and SMART, impacts of these measures will be determined in order to obtain a system-oriented evaluation including effects on other ecosystem services. This will be done in an iterative approach so that measures can be optimised through direct feedback loops from the farmers to the scientists during the project. farmers, scientists and advisors define the factors that promote and inhibit the use of circular systems based on a joint evaluation of short-term measures and the development of scenarios for long-term measures. |
