Beschreibung (dt.): |
Beschreibung (engl.): |
The development objective of the project was to empower farmers and vulnerable communities in several of the world’s poorest countries to realise the commercial and environmental potential of sisal value chains. By means of sustainable market-led initiatives in partnership with multinational enterprises, the scientific community, policy-makers and international agencies, the project would: advance technology-sharing and transfer; advocate sustainable business models to empower farmers by ensuring them an equitable share of income from the sisal value chain; encourage the adoption of ethical practices that advance gender equality and mitigate child labour; and promote responsible choices in the market place under policies that are in concordance with the bio-economy and through sustainability certification. |
