| Beschreibung (dt.): | Das vorliegende Forschungsvorhaben untersucht die Wirksamkeit von biologischen Prophylaxemaßnahmen mit dem Ziel, das Auftreten bakterieller Infektionskrankheiten und dem damit verbunden den Antibiotikaeinsatz in der Hühner- und Putenmast sowie der Legehennenhaltung zu minimieren. Insbesondere werden folgende Fragestellungen bearbeitet: - Welche der genannten Prophylaxemaßnahmen zeigen bei den einzelnen Betriebscharakteristika einen positiven Effekt auf das Auftreten behandlungswürdiger bakterieller Infektionskrankheiten und damit auf die Therapiehäufigkeit? - Lassen sich verschiedene Kategorien alternativer Prophylaxemaßnahmen miteinander kombinieren, um die Therapiehäufigkeit zu senken? - Gehen die einzelnen alternativen Prophylaxemaßnahmen mit einer Verbesserung der Tiergesundheit einher? - Wirken sich die einzelnen alternativen Prophylaxemaßnahmen auf das ökonomische Ergebnis der Mast- und Legedurchgänge aus? |
| Beschreibung (engl.): | The present project aims to investigate the effect of biological prophylactic measures on the reduction of the prevalence of bacterial infections and consequently on the incidence of antibiotic use in broiler, turkey and egg production. In detail the following objectives will be studied: - which of the prophylactic measures have an effect under the farm-specific characterictics on the prevalence of infections that have to be treated with antibiotics and on the frequency of treatments? - are combinations of alternative prophylactic measures effective to decrease the frequency of antibiotic treatments? - do the propylactiv measured improve animal health? - does the use of prophylactic measures affect the economic outcome of broiler, turkey and egg production? After the acquisition of farms (5 broiler, 5 turkey, 3 laying hen farms) a status-quo analysis will be conducted. Based on this assessment quality control systems and farm-specific plans for the use of prophylactic measures will be developed, discussed with farmers and vets and applied during the practical testing phase. The quality control systems ensure a standardized documentation of husbandry, performance and animal health data by farmers. Plans will be designed under consideration whether respiratory or gastrointestianal infections are prevalent on the specific farm. The prophylactic measures, that will be grouped by respiratory or gastrointestinal problems, based on their mode of action into: • Measures applied with feed and water o preservatives o probiotics o flavour additives o effective microorganisms o adsorbents • Measures applied with litter material o Effective microorganisms o adsorbents The application of the prophylcatic measures on the farms will be supervised by regular farm visits and online consultations for farmers and vets. On the broiler farms measures will be tested during nine runs, on the turkey farms during three and on the laying hen farms during one laying period. Data regarding the antibiotic use will be collected by vets and the half-yearly documentation to the HIT-data recording. For the planning and optimization of the practical testing, regular project and network meetings (including farmers and vets) will take place. |
